Q: Do I have to have a minimum amount of money in account? I've heard some places you have to have $100. Thank you.

Answer: Thanks for your question. It depends on the account. Our popular "Free Checking" account does NOT require a minimum balance at any time. At no time will you be charged a fee unless your balance goes negative. Centennial's Totally Free Checking will always remain Totally Free!

However, all our checking and savings accounts including Free Checking require an opening amount of $100, and some accounts, minus Free & Diamond Checking, will charge a small fee if the balance dips below $100.

That's pretty much standard practice in the banking industry. Some small fees are necessary for banks to maintain operating funds. But we think you'll find that compared to other banks, Centennial's charges are much less. No "nickel-and-diming" here.

I am interested in changing banks and am not clear on your ATM refund policy. What is it and how does it work? Also, what other charges are there for a checking account and do you have online banking?

Expert Answer:

Thanks for your question, and thanks for considering Centennial Bank. We offer free, nationwide ATM withdrawals, but if you’re ever charged a service fee at any ATM, our refund policy is this: Bring the receipt to any Centennial bank location and we'll refund the charge to your Centennial account. That's all you have to do.

We offer several checking account options including free checking. Our free checking account doesn’t require a minimum balance and isn’t service charged at all if you're signed up for our free e-statements. Otherwise, a $5 paper statement fee is charged. Check out our online switch kit to make switching to Centennial easy.

Yes, we offer online banking. Check your balance, transfer funds, whatever you need 24/7. Hope this helps. (To sign up for online banking simply fill out this quick and easy form)

Stop by one of our branches, and we can talk in more detail about our products and how they might fit your financial needs. Again, thanks for thinking of us.

My bank has been taken over by this bank. I had online access to my former bank account and I no longer have that option. How do I get access to my internet banking?

Expert Answer:

You still have access to your internet banking. To log in to your internet banking, go to our website at www.my100bank.com. On the right side of the page, towards the middle, you will see a black box displayed for our newest Centennial Bank customers. Click on the box that applies to you, and follow the links to Online Banking section. From there you will be able to access your internet banking. See videos below for a short tutorial.

Could you explain "opt in – opt out?"

Expert Answer:

If a customer opts in, their account will work as it does today. When they go to a merchant to make a purchase using their debit card and there are insufficient funds in the account, the charge will be approved up to their overdraft limit and they will be charged the $30 overdraft fee. If a customer opts out and there are insufficient funds in the account, the debit card transaction will be declined.

Expert Answer:

The automatic debits will continue to process on the account until the funds are depleted or if there is not a beneficiary listed on the account, until the account is closed by the administrator of the estate. You may stop by one of our branches and speak with a Customer Service Representative. They will be able to add a beneficiary onto the account making it a POD (payable on death) account.
